Our Pastor

Greetings in the name of Jesus: our Blessed and Only Potentate.

Pastor Hugh Marcian McKenzie was born to Jamaican parents Noel and Lois McKenzie, on the 26th February 1964. That’s right; the very night Cassius Clay known as Mohammed Ali won the World Heavy-Weight title for the first time (It was still the 25th February in the U.S)

The nurses suggested calling him Cassius; yet his father, a keen Rocky Marcianno fan, wouldn’t have it. Pastor McKenzie gave his first testimony at the age of 12 and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ a short while after at the age of 13, under the leadership (pastorship) of Bishop Ira George McKenzie; the only pastor he has known. He received the Gift of the Holy Ghost some years later.

It was not until Jesus came into his life that he became more than a conqueror through Christ, who strengthens us.

Pastor McKenzie married Sister Jennifer Campbell on 14th April 1984. The Lord has blessed them with two daughters: Beulah in 1986 and Naomi in 1992. In September 1994, Pastor McKenzie became an ordained Elder in the Apostolic faith on the opening day and dedicatory service of the newly acquired church building of Zion Church of Christ at the age of 30. Although leading the assembly from 2006 due to Bishop McKenzie’s absence through ill health, he officially started pastoring at the passing away of Bishop McKenzie in October 2006. Pastor McKenzie is recognised as an anointed preacher and teacher, speaking on the issues of the present day. He is also known throughout the local Wood Green community, where he sits on the Woodside Safer Neighbourhood panel with members of the local community and police force.

Zion continues to prosper under the leadership of Pastor McKenzie and with the direction of the Holy Spirit. His God-inspired vision is for Zion to be an integral part of the community, winning souls of diverse nations for the Kingdom of God.
